Central vs. Ductless Air Conditioning Systems: Which is Right for You?

Whether you have a single uncomfortable room, you’re renovating your entire house, or you’re building a home from scratch, ductless mini-splits may be the solution. Because these systems focus on individual living spaces rather than treating every room the same, they’re more customizable, more energy efficient and easier to install. If you already have ductwork installed and in good condition, most experts will recommend going with a ducted system, as installation is simply a matter of hooking the new unit up to the existing ventilation. It’s quicker and less expensive. Also, when humidity is a concern, ducted heat pump and air conditioning systems are better choices as the air handlers in ductless systems lack the mechanisms needed to remove much moisture from the air and drain it away.

Although I did not use Nordstrom Heating for my AC installation, I would highly recommend them. Brad came out to my house, but unfortunately he decided not to provide me with a quote for an installation of a new AC unit. I commend Brad for his honesty. Two years ago I had a new Carrier furnace installed (by another company) with evaporator coil, knowing that I eventually wanted AC. Because Nordstrom heating is an American Standard distributor, Brad recommended that I install a Carrier/Bryant AC unit to avoid unnecessary cost. Installing a different brand would mean that they would have to pull out my existing coil. Brad handed me his business card and offered to any future questions or needed a resource to contact him. A few weeks have gone by and I have collected four other quotes. I had a tough time deciding between on installing an AC unit or heat pump. I reached out to Brad via email with my questions and quotes from the other company. He called me back later that evening and assisted me in deciding which unit was best for my needs. It's definitely refreshing to come across someone who looks out for the best interest of the customer instead of just getting the sale.

We turned on our AC, and it decided to not come on. I filled out a request online (it was a Sunday). Got a call Monday morning from a very nice lady (forgot her name). She had a technician come out that day. The AC decided to work when he was here (of course, right!). He was very knowledgeable and a nice guy. This was our first time using Nordstrom Heating. We'll definitely be using them for our next maintenance.

We needed maintenance on our gas fireplace and furnace. i called Nordstrom Heating and they were able to send someone out in a week. Trevor called a week later and asked if he could come out earlier than the scheduled appointment time. Trevor was very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. He took his time to check everything thoroughly and did not rush through the job. It turned out that the furnace needed more work than we were anticipating, and he also found other issues that were related to the furnace that needed to be addressed. He had to leave to get parts, but he came back and finished the job that day. We really appreciate Trevor and Nordstrom Heating.

Nordstrom Heating installed a mini-split in our older home. Our house is built like a chimney, tall and skinny, so it was difficult to configure since heat rises. They had to do some adjustments and switch out some equipment, but ultimately, we're absolutely thrilled with their work and the outcome. I would highly recommend Jason Nordstrom's company for your heating and cooling system.
